John Sellick is a violinist and violist from Winnipeg, Manitoba. His primary focus is on orchestral and chamber music, and has played with National Youth Orchestra of Canada, Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and the Canadian Opera Company. John is currently a member of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and a founding member of the Indigo Trio.

John started out on the violin at age 6, switched to the viola when he was 14, and went on to receive his undergraduate degree from the University of Manitoba, and his Artist’s Diploma from the Glenn Gould School, studying with renowned Canadian violist Steven Dann. In 2020, John was named as one of Canada’s top 30 classical musicians under 30 by the CBC. 

Aside from music, John enjoys making soup, Norval Morrisseau’s art, fox sparrows, night walks, canoe tripping, motorcycles and cribbage.
